Welcome!

Greetings from the front line! I'm Andrea Palmer -Researcher and Casual Associate Producer for Daybreak North on CBC Radio One. As you know, my work day is on hold at the moment -and I dearly look forward to getting back to work, back on the air. As we finish off our second week on the picket lines after being locked out by CBC management, we'd like to take the time now to thank all of our friends and listeners for their positive support and feedback (and for all those Timbits and treats!). It's a difficult time for everyone -we miss the regular radio shows as much as anyone (James Evans doesn't just wake himself up at 4am weekdays!).
This web log (blog) has been established as one more way for us to stay in contact with you for the duration of the labour dispute, and we welcome your comments. Check in regularly for updates, lockout news and a glimpse into our lives on the picket line. We'll be adding pictures and commentary regularly.
Our first big event is coming up on FRIDAY, AUGUST 26th. -We're hosting a Lockout Charity Barbecue form noon until 2pm at the CBC office at 1268 Victoria Street (right beside Tim Hortons) in Prince George. James will be cooking up some burgers and hot dogs -and dispensing interesting facts and witty repartee. All proceeds will be donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Hope to see you there! The pictures will be up by Monday. Cheers!

Hey Guys,
Save me some a shrimp from that barbie. Great idea, hope you've had lots of P.G. area fans on hand. We're doing a Walk-Around-The Block with a CBC Personality down here on the Vancouver picket line on Monday. (Guess I better shave.)
All the best mates - from a BC Almanacer.

Hi guys,
Ran into your website and just wanted to let you know I've been thinking of all of you as I walk around the Vancouver building again and again and again.
Take care - and stay strong.

Hi Andrea and gang!
Greetings from the Pandora Ave. picket in Victoria.
That sounds like a great event you've got planned.
We're working on a few things as well...our website should be up and fully running by monday.
Keep us updated with pictures.
Cheers,
Madeline

Hey PG folks,
We've all been talking about the bureaus down here and wondering how you all are doing.
I've heard a lot of Vancuver people saying they feel like VCR is a real outpost in all of this. Empty building here-everything coming from T.O. Guessing that's even more true from where you sit.
The VCR picket line has been pretty inspiring though...events both planned and spontaneous -very good reminder of what an incredible bunch of people we work with.
Take care all. And should any of you decide to hop a greyhound and come south I can offer a delightful pull-out couch and cold beer upon arrival.
